Chile's Cap Acero Announced to Temporary Shutdown Its No.1 Blast Furnace

Reportedly, Chile's CAP Acero, the steel arm of the CAP group, announced to temporary shutdown its No. 1 blast furnace on Monday in order to replace its refractory lining.

Meanwhile, the maintenance schedule will take at least 70 days to be completed.

During maintenance period, the company will temporarily hold the crude steel production of 115,000 tons at BF No. 1's operations.

In addition, CAP Acero's Talcahuano plant is able to produce annual crude steel production capacity to 1.2 million tons with its two BFs in full operation.

However, the company will also plan its maintenance schedule at BF No. 2 by the end of the year or in early of 2014.
