Swedish packaging firm Tetra Pak is set to invest around $110m to build a new regional manufacturing facility in Vietnam.
Expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2019, the new facility will be situated near Ho Chi Minh City.
The facility will serve food and beverage manufacturers in ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand.
It will produce around 20 billion packs per annum for different packaging formats, comprising of Tetra Brik Aseptic and Tetra Fino Aseptic.
Tetra Pak already operates facilities in Singapore, India and Japan.
Tetra Pak South Asia, East Asia and Oceania regional vice president Michael Zacka said: “Over the years, we have seen substantial growth of our products, driven by a wide portfolio and a number of innovations that we have introduced in the market.
“Hence our investment in a new plant, which will be our fourth Packaging Material factory in the region, providing us with expansive coverage and scale.”
In 2013, Tetra Pak opened packaging materials factory in Chakan, near Pune in India.
With a total area of 1,80,000m², the facility provides packaging and processing solutions across India, South-east Asia and the Middle-East. It has a capacity to produce 8.5 billion packages per annum.
Tetra Pak provides packaging, filling machines and processing solutions for dairy, beverages, cheese, ice-cream and prepared food products.
