In the 27th Offshore Oil and Gas Licensing Round, RWE Dea UK received the operatorship in a further three licences in the Southern North Sea

In addition to the two 27th Round licences awarded earlier this year, P2018 West of Shetland and P1975 Northern North Sea, RWE Dea UK has recently been awarded a further three licences.

“We are very pleased with all licences awarded to us in the 27th licence round, as they strengthen our position in our core areas on the UK Continental Shelf,” said Dirk Schoene, Managing Director of RWE Dea UK.

“Two of the recently awarded licences are located very close to our growth projects Breagh and Clipper South and we are looking forward to the upcoming exploration campaigns,” Schoene explains.

The three new licences are all in the Southern North Sea, with RWE Dea as the operator. RWE Dea will become operator of P2109, with the blocks 42/22b & 42/23a and a share of 100%. P2109 is adjacent to the greater Breagh area, where RWE Dea already operates the Breagh gas field, one of the largest natural gas discoveries under development in the UK sector of the Southern North Sea.

RWE Dea has also been awarded P2119, with the blocks 48/24a and 48/25c and a 40% share in the licence. P2119 lies adjacent to Clipper South, another important gas field that RWE Dea brought on stream in 2012.

The third licence awarded to RWE Dea is P2134, with the blocks 43/25b and 44/21c and a 50% share. The start date for all three licences is 20th December 2013, with an Initial Term of four years.
