Italian lamination machines supplier Nordmeccanica has signed a preferred vendor agreement with Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific (AFAP).
According to the agreement that will be applicable for a period of 24 months, AFAP will buy machinery for all of its 38 plants across China and Southeast Asia.
The agreement is also expected to be extended to India next year and will target optimisation of standard machine specifications and options along with an improved and simplified process for ordering, delivery, installation and commissioning.
AFAP president Ralf Wunderlich said: "This strategic partnership supports our rapid growth throughout Asia and also enhances our ability to respond rapidly to the needs of our customers."
Lamination machines from Nordmeccanica promise to provide high performance by consuming lesser energy with minimal emission and solventless or water based technology.
Nordmeccanica president Antonio Cerciello was quoted by Xinhua as saying: "Partnering with AFAP and supplying to all the plants in Asia Pacific is a win for us and I am certain that we will benefit strongly from this partnership.
"We are already preparing for what the market will be like in five years, which allows us to uphold our quality standards and our prices and to continue to generate skilled employment in Italy."
Nordmeccanica employs 280 people and operates total of five plants, with three in Italy, one in China and one in the US - and two direct operations in India and Argentina.
The company's estimated 2014 turnover is around $125m which is an increase of about 14% from the 2013 figures.
