Cook Medical, a US-based healthcare devices producer, has introduced its Flexor Vue Deflecting Endoscopic System, which can be used in the urological procedures to access and visualize body cavities or organs.
The Flexor Vue comprises a disposable, sterile sheath which decreases the risk of patient-to-patient contamination, and the visualization source is reusable up to 10 times if it is properly cared for.
The Flexor Vue can also be used in other kidney and bladder procedures.
The Flexor Vue provides some facilities with an opportunity to expand their procedural capabilities without incurring capital equipment costs.
Cook Medical Urology division global leader Jean-Marc Creissel said that the system ensures that they will not have to reschedule procedures because their scope breaks or isn't sterile.
"The Flexor Vue is convenient, disposable and could improve patient safety by preventing patient-to-patient contamination," Creissel added.
The Flexor Vue, which is now available in the US and Europe, will be launched in other markets in the coming months.
