Design and packaging firm Graphic Packaging International has opened up its Global Innovation Centre (GIC) for consumers in the UK, to support new developments in food and beverage packging.
Developed with an investment of $1m at Bardon site, Leicestershire, the facility provides the company's packaging design team the space and tools required to innovate.
Graphic Packaging said: "The work we do at GPI's Global Innovation Centre inspires great carton design; working alongside the GIC at Atlanta and Chicago to form a true global design network."
The GIC is installed with Zund S3 M800 plotters and Roland UV printer to offer realistic and color accurate samples to customers.
Real-time communication tool PackWorks workflow system manages both design and graphics services.
The system not only manages carton asset libraries and controls the profiles, but also acts as a bridge among many departments in the GIC.
Packworks team head at GIC James Lockett said: "Packworks went fully operational in April having been developed over a two year period.
"Packworks drives the design brief through each stage - sample making, die ordering, colour mock ups, repro, artwork approval and production - keeping all teams fully aware of the project status at all times. This improved interaction not only increases efficiency, but ensures effective execution, accurate sampling and cost transparency at each stage."
