The US Commerce Department announced it had slapped preliminary anti-dumping duties on wood flooring worth over $100 million imported from China. The tariffs reached up to 83 percent of the price. The department set a 10.88 percent duty on products from the Dalian Kemian Wood Industry Co Ltd, the company said in a statement Tuesday. Company officials said they will pay close attention to investigations surrounding the anti-dumping and countervailing duties in the case and will respond positively, the newspaper reported. In March, the US Commerce Department set preliminary countervailing duties on the same wood products to offset Chinese government subsidies. Qin Zhanxue, vice president of China Building Materials Circulation Association, told the reporter that the anti-dumping duties will have a big impact on Chinese enterprises' wood flooring export to the US. According to the report, Qin said some companies may give up on the US market. Source: China Daily
