Mitsubishi Polyester Film, a subsidiary of Japan-based Mitsubishi Plastics, has selected Jacobs Engineering Group to provide engineering services for the expansion of its polyester film plant in Greenville County, South Carolina, US.
Under the contract, Jacobs will be responsible for providing engineering services for the polyester film plant expansion project.
The $100m expansion project includes installation of a polyester film production line with a high level of technology and production efficiency, the company said.
Jacobs specialty chemicals senior vice-president Andrew Berryman said: "We are excited Mitsubishi chose Jacobs to invest in its existing facility. Our team is committed to delivering a safe, innovative project to support Mitsubishi's customers and markets around the world."
Said to be the largest polyester film plant in the country, the Greer facility, with over 500 employees, manufactures and sells a wide range of specialty films that are used in industrial, packaging and electronics applications.
Planned to be completed by late 2017, the expansion project is expected to meet the growing demand for polyester film, while also supporting the company's growth in both the US and overseas markets.
Earlier, Mitsubishi Polyester Film America president and COO Bill Radlein said: "This expansion further enhances our ability to support our customers and markets with value added low cost solutions, while at the same time providing employment for the more than 500 families that depend on our business for their livelihood."
Mitsubishi Polyester Film operates manufacturing facilities in Japan, China, Indonesia, Germany, and the US.
