US-based bottling company Chicago Craft Bottling will open its first bottling facility in Indiana, creating about 35 jobs by 2017.
The company will invest around $910,000 to construct the 10,000 ft2 building that will be used as a bottling and packaging facility.
Operational by the end of 2014, this investment will help the company to provide bottling and co-packing services to clients from the beverage industry, including brands like Crafthouse Cocktails.
Speaking about the choice of Indiana, Chicago Craft Bottling managing partner Patrick Jean-Baptiste said: "Chicago Craft Bottling found the business environment in Indiana, and more specifically Michigan City, to be very receptive and conducive to the growth of our company.
"Additionally, the fact that Michigan City is only an hour away from Chicago makes the location as ideal as any Chicago suburb."
The company will also hire about ten new people for the facility by November.
Chicago Craft Bottling will produce a range of prepared cocktails and non-alcoholic products from the new plant. It also received about $295,000 in conditional tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation based on its job creation plans.
President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation Eric Doden said:"Companies like Chicago Craft Bottling save money in Indiana, from our lower tax burdens to our more affordable cost of doing business.
"Those savings earn companies a competitive advantage, allowing them to reinvest in their operations. That keeps Indiana businesses growing, expanding our economy and creating more jobs for Hoosiers."
