AIMS, the fashion industry’s leading apparel Software Company is paving the road for the future of Fashion curriculums across the country.
The Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 classes in which AIMS is being used as part of the courses training tool boasted high demand from students at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), Los Angeles, Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC), CALPOLY Pomona and Saddleback College, Irvine, CA.
In the Fall of 2013, AIMS expanded their educational programs into FIDM’s curriculum. After instituting AIMS into their Merchandising Program to help fashionistas better understand the business side of the fashion industry, students started to see the importance and demanded more classes. FIDM Los Angeles, will now be offering 3 classes which include the AIMS system as part of their learning tools.
Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC) where AIMS was first taught in 1998, had a record setting number of students turn up for the first day of FM040 Fashion Merchandising Math. The class has a cap of 30 students and over 50 showed up the first day. “I am amazed at the great response my class received to learn merchandising math using the AIMS system” says Henry Cherner (Co-founder/Managing Partner and Adjunct Professor).
LATTC did not have enough spots and computers for students to use and so to weed out those that were serious about this class, Henry had each student write about why they want to be in this industry and what they plan to get out of the class. “Unfortunately, we couldn’t take more people and still give the personal attention to each student and not exceed the maximum number of computers in the classroom. Wow, even after assigning this project, it was hard to shrink the class down”, Henry stated.
Things were no different at Saddleback College (Irvine, CA). AIMS is offering one of the first retail e-commerce classes called “Apparel Cart: Fashion Retailing Online with AIMS EasyShop Cart”. The class allows students to create and manage the full process of an online store for their fashion business using AIMS EasyShop. As soon as the class was posted, the class reached near capacity within 1 hour.
ABOUT AIMS EDUCATION
AIMS were first taught to students at Los Angeles Trade Technical College in 1998. Knowing the ins and outs of the fashion industry and what fashion students were being taught at various trade schools and colleges, Henry Cherner saw that there was a gap that still needed to be filled between designing, merchandising, etc. and business concepts.
