Modell’s Sporting Goods, celebrating its 125 year anniversary, will hold a grand opening for its newest location at 1019 Montauk Highway in Shirley, Long Island, bringing their total to 157 storefronts.
The Southport Shopping Center location will officially open its nearly 14,000 square foot doors on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. with a ceremonial ribbon cutting with President & CEO Mitchell Modell, Kate Browning, Suffolk County Legislator, Mayor Bill Biondi of Mastic Beach, and Brookhaven Deputy Town Supervisor, Dan Panico.
“We are thrilled to have our 16th store in the Long Island area,” Said Modell’s President and CEO Mitchell Modell. “This year, we’ve been fortunate enough to add four new locations to our Modell’s footprint including One Penn Plaza, 711 Lexington Ave, Ritchie Station VA, and now Shirley, Long Island that will allow us to better serve our local communities, just in time for the upcoming holiday season.”
This is the second Grand Opening for Modell’s within 60 days. Over the Labor Day weekend, Modell’s Sporting Goods opened its 2nd new Manhattan location of 2014 near the corner of 57th St. and Lexington Ave. The store features an expanded assortment of women’s active apparel and footwear for the entire family, while continuing the traditional sporting goods and team gear assortment of Modell’s.
