The World's First Integrated LED Light Engine Without Any External Electronic Components

Recently ShineOn successfully demonstrated its DiscLight(TM) LED Light Engine, which is the world's first wholly integrated LED light engine without any external electronic components.

ShineOn's DiscLight(TM) LED Light Engine integrates a high voltage CMOS based driver IC with multiple LED chips on one substrate. Due to its creative control algorithm and special IC configuration, this integrated module can directly connect to 110V or 220V AC power line, and drive the LED array without any excess electronic components such as inductors, voltage transformers and electrolyte capacitors.

ShineOn's DiscLight(TM) LED Light Engine obviously improves the reliability as well as shrinks the module size to less than 30% of it was, when comparing to 2-board solutions and solutions with discrete electronic components. The advantages of DiscLight(TM) make itself the perfect choice for indoor lighting applications ranging from 3-20W, such as LED candle lights or LED PAR Lights.

"The LED lighting industry is in the key phase of development, and expected to accelerated growth," said Dr. Frank Fan, President of ShineOn. "The successful demonstration of DiscLight(TM) is an important step for us to establish a leadership position, and we’ll keep combining the U.S. design innovations and Chinese manufacturing to provide advanced, ground-breaking module solutions for the LED lighting industry."

DiscLight(TM) providing high reliability and a high factor of 0.99, compact size at 19mm x 19mm x 2mm, high total lumens efficiency of over 90lm/W, linearly dimmable device that is compatible with majority of existing dimmer circuits. It is expected to be in mass production by the end of 2013.
