Italy's New Car Registrations Amounted to 113,525 Units in January, Down 17.6 Percent

Italy's new car registrations amounted to 113,525 units in January, down 17.6 percent year on year, according to the Italian automotive industry association Anfia.

Anfia president Roberto Vavassori stated, "The opening of 2013 witnessed another decline in the Italian auto market," adding, "After 13 months in a row of double-digit year-on-year declines, the new registration figure for January fell to levels not seen since January 1984. Due to the lackluster economic conditions, consumer confidence levels also continue to fall.
