Italy's new car registrations amounted to 116,209 units in April, down 10.8 percent year on year, according to the Italian automotive industry association Anfia. In April, new car registrations in the Italian market declined on year-on-year basis for the 19th consecutive month.
In January-April this year, Italian new cars registration fell 12.3 percent to 471,750 units compared to the first four months of 2012, in which period the figure had already recorded a year-on-year decrease of close to 22 percent.
Meanwhile, a feeble but still positive sign is indicated by the new orders figure. In April, new car orders in the Italian market increased by four percent compared to April 2012 to 117,000 units, while they decreased by 14 percent year on year in January-April this year with about 464,000 units ordered.
