Ken Block has shown off the fresh livery and headquarters for his new Hoonigan Racing Division team as the extreme motorsports icon prepares for his assault on 2013.
Formally known as the Monster World Rally Team and covered in bright green, the new Hoonigan Racing Division is highlighted by an all-new electric blue theme for both the cars and team base.
Block said the new team was aiming to continue where the old one left off, trying to lead and innovate in the motorsports marketing arena.
“With the name change to Hoonigan Racing Division, we wanted to take the look in a slightly different direction, one that has been inspired by my love of 80s and early 90s skateboarding graphics, as well as Miami Vice-era offshore powerboats and a dash of hair metal and old school hip hop mixed in for good measure.”
Still tied to Ford Racing and DC Shoes – the latter Block himself helped co-found – the new team will continue to be supported by its long list of eager sponsors.
The new 1115-square-metre facility is divided into two spaces – one for office space and one the team’s workshop area – and utilises 17 recycled shipping containers, along with other recycled, reused and sustainable materials.
“I wanted to avoid the inflexibility of constructing a space made of lumber and sheetrock walls. Using recycled shipping containers as the building blocks for the Hoonigan Racing Division headquarters is not only more environmentally friendly, but it gives us the flexibility to add more infrastructure and the ability to pack the entire facility onto trucks if we ever needed to relocate.”
Apart from making successful tyre-frying internet videos, Block also competes in X Games, Global RallyCross, Rally America, Gymkhana GRID and the World Rally Championship.
