DJI has followed up the launch of the impressive foldable Mavic Pro by announcing a pair of new drones designed for professional photographers and videographers.
The Inspire 2 (above) has been dubbed the best ‘ready-to-fly’ platform for high-end film and video creators, while the company has hailed the Phantom 4 Pro the ‘smartest and most creative flying camera of its size.’
Let’s start with the Inspire 2. With a lightweight magnesium-aluminium alloy construction, it can soar to heights of 16,404ft above sea level climbing at 20 feet per second, while it has a top speed of 67mph and goes from 0-50 in just four seconds.
As it’s designed for professional use, it’s got a forward facing camera that’s designed to be fed to the pilot, while the camera operator will receive the feed from the Zenmuse professional camera mounted on the main gimbal.
The successor to the original Inspire now has a brand new image processing system dubbed CineCore 2.0 which will process files faster. Video is captured at 5.2K, while supporting a wide variety of compression formats.
Users will also be able to stream video at 1080i and 50 frames per second. The Inspire 2 will retail at £3,059.
The Phantom 4 Pro (below), a professional upgrade for the Phantom 4, isn’t quite as fancy and will be available for £1,819. For that you’ll get a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor and 12 stops of dynamic range. It offers 30 minutes of flight time and will travel at a top speed of 45mph.
The UAV will also capture slow-motion 4K video at 60fps and a bitrate of 100mbps.
It has an improved FlightAutonomy system, which builds up a 3D map of obstacles surrounding the aircraft, and can sense up to 98-feet in front and behind the drone. There’s also a Landing Protection feature that can sense uneven ground or water.
Finally there’s a new remote controller with an “optional high luminance display, providing a clear and vivid live HD view from the forward-facing camera as well as essential telemetry data, even in direct sunlight... The new controller has a built-in GPS, compass, Micro-SD card slot and HDMI port.”
