Some Taiwan-Based Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell Makers Plans to Relocate Production Line

Some Taiwan-based crystalline silicon solar cell makers, faced with price drops and decreased orders arising from the US imposition of preliminary anti-dumping tariffs at an average rate of 24.23%, have plans to relocate production lines abroad to avoid the impact and/or reduce manpower to decrease production costs, according to PV industry sources in Taiwan.

China-based PV module makers have drastically decreased orders released to Taiwan-based solar cell maker and solar cell prices have cumulatively slipped by 20% since the US imposed preliminary anti-dumping tariffs, the sources said.

Solar cell makers have plans to cut personnel, with initial plans to lay off 5-10% of all employees, including executive positions, the sources indicated.

For overseas relocation of production lines, Solartech Energy, Gintech Energy, Neo Solar Power and Tainergy Tech have plans to do so, the sources noted.
