The Total Price-Adjusted Value of Orders Received Increased by 4.2 Percent in 2012

As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total price-adjusted value of orders received by building construction and civil and underground engineering enterprises in Germany increased by 4.2 percent in 2012, compared to the previous year.

In 2012, building construction demand increased by 5.4 percent, while demand in civil and underground engineering was up by 2.8 percent, both on year-on-year basis. The total turnover in building construction in Germany amounted last year to around €93.8 billion, indicating a slight increase of 0.4 percent compared to 2011.

Meanwhile, in December last year the total price-adjusted value of orders in the construction industry decreased by 6.6 percent from the corresponding month of the previous year. In December, demand fell by 2.7 percent in building construction and by 11.4 percent in civil engineering, both on year-on-year basis. In the given month, the total turnover of the German construction industry amounted to approximately €8.5 billion, with a decrease of 10 percent from the same month of 2011.
