Manufacturing Industry Rose by 1.7 Percent in The German

In March this year, the seasonally and working-day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing industry rose by 1.7 percent compared to the previous month, following a revised month-on-month increase of 0.2 percent in February, according to the preliminary data reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The working day adjusted turnover in the German manufacturing sector in March this year was lower by 1.8 percent compared to March 2012.

In the first quarter of the year, the working-day adjusted turnover in manufacturing was 2.6 percent below the level of the same period of the previous year, with domestic turnover decreasing by 3.8 percent and foreign turnover down by 1.1 percent.

In March, the greatest month-on-month turnover increase in the German manufacturing sector was observed in the motor vehicles and vehicle parts industry with a rise of 10.1 percent. In the motor vehicle segment, in the given month there was a 3.4 percent increase in domestic sales and a 14 percent rise in foreign sales, month on month.

In March, the turnover of German metal and metal product manufacturing increased 0.9 percent as compared to February, with domestic sales decreasing by 0.2 percent, while foreign sales were up by two percent, month on month. In March, a 1.1 percent month-on-month decrease was recorded in the turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with domestic sales and foreign sales both decreasing by 1.1 percent, compared to the previous month.
