Nyetimber, a UK-based winery that produces sparkling wines, has partnered with premier wine distributor Enoteca of Tokyo to export its wines to Japan from June 2013.
Japan will be the first export market for Nyetimber and Enoteca will serve as sole distributor of Nyetimber wines in Japan.
Nyetimber marketing and communications manager Christian Holthausen was quoted by Harpers as saying that the wines to be release in Japan include Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2008, Blanc de Blancs 2007 and a Rosé 2009, which will roll out two weeks before its UK launch.
"Japan is a sophisticated sparkling wine market and the fifth largest export market for Champagne," Holthausen added.
"Consumers in Japan are also interested in grower Champagnes and special cuvées, so we think it's a good fit for a brand like Nyetimber."
Nyetimber wines will be sold in Enoteca's 50 wine shops and in premium on and off-trade markets across Japan.
Enoteca spokesperson said, "Enoteca is very proud to be Nyetimber's first official partner in the export market and know that lots of Japanese wine lovers will soon discover amazing, high-quality sparkling wine from England."
