Serta Restokraft and Gardner-White Furniture Partnered to Help The Ronald Mcdonald House

DETROIT — To celebrate their 100th anniversaries, officials from Serta Restokraft and Gardner-White Furniture partnered to help the Motor City's Ronald McDonald House, which serves families of sick children who are undergoing hospital treatment.

In all, Serta Restokraft President and CEO Larry Kraft and Gardner-White President Steve Tronstein contributed $60,000 worth of furniture, electronics and other goods.

"It was like an angel walked in the door and transformed our house," said Jennifer Litomisky, executive director of the Detroit Ronald McDonald House. "We are so grateful for what Serta Restokraft, Gardner-White and the others have done for us. Our house looks amazing!"

From Serta Restokraft, Kraft pledged mattresses and frames for all 25 bedrooms. Tronstein and Gardner-White donated a complete living room, including leather sofas, chairs, ottomans and TVs, as well as six dressers for bedrooms.

They also helped bring Matt McNamara of Great Lakes Technology, which donated laptop computers and a touchscreen computer for the front lobby, and Rick Tyner of Stadium Floor Coverings, which donated flooring and installation for 10 bedrooms.

The mission of the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit is to serve families of sick children with a "home away from home." It is near Children's Hospital of Michigan and other hospitals. A nominal daily fee is charged for a guest room and use of common areas including a kitchen, play and entertainment areas, but no family is turned away due to a lack of funds.
