Australia-based orthopaedic implant designer and manufacturer Global Orthopaedic Technology said that London’s Charing Cross Hospital has successfully employed its new GRU knee replacement.
The hospital has performed two surgical procedures using robotic surgery arm and under guidance of Global's strategic partner Stanmore Implants Worldwide.
Global chief executive officer Darren Churchill said the firm is happy as to announce the selection of GRU knee replacement by Stanmore, as an ideal implant for hi-technology surgery, in conjunction with Stanmore's Robotic Guidance Arm (RGA).
"Stanmore's RGA system enables pre-operative planning of the precise positioning of the implant from CT scans, resulting in optimal joint kinematics and in turn, increasing the longevity of our Global implants for the overall benefit of the patient."Churchill added.
The firm said the device was also recognised by the Australian Orthopaedic Association's National Joint Replacement Registry.
