SIG Combibloc has supplied shelf stable carton packs to Hirzel Canning for the launch of its Dei Fratelli Truly Tomatoes in the US.
The environmentally friendly carton packaging allows Hirzel Canning to provide optimal protection for foods. It also retains quality over a prolonged period without the use of preservatives or refrigeration.
According to SIG, the carton packs are BPA-free and are convenient to store, handle and dispose.
The aseptic carton pack is composed of up to 75% wood fibers, a renewable resource, which is obtained from controlled sources and forests that are managed responsibly.
Carton packs are 100% recyclable and are said to have a smaller environmental impact. They use fewer fossil resources than other food packaging for long-life food products.
