Glass recycling firm Ripple Glass has launched a new commercial program for businesses in Kansas City to recycle their glass.
The program will enable businesses in the area to recycle their glass with ease. Applications are being taken at present for enrolling local businesses into the program, and expect to start collection by April this year.
Ripple Glass has purchased a new truck and mobile collection container to effectively collect glass from different locations of the city.
The company will collect the glass in different areas of the city, including River Market, Downtown, Crossroads, and Westport areas.
Ripple Glass will also expand its recycling operations to meet the demand from metro businesses.
The firm will clean and process glass to allow remanufacturing, helping to create new products such as beer bottles and fiberglass insulation.
Ripple Glass president and co-founder Mike Utz said: “Commercial glass consumers have been asking for direct service since our founding in 2009. We are pleased to be in position to offer this service now, furthering our mission to provide a comprehensive glass recycling system to Kansas City.”
Ripple Glass Kansas City general manager Michelle Goth said: “This program has been a long time coming. Every day, we receive phone calls from local businesses asking if we can pick up their glass, and we’re thrilled to finally have a solution for them.”
In 2009, the members of Boulevard Brewing Ripple formed a Ripple Glass with the support of local companies and community organizations.
Ripple has collaborated with over 80 municipalities across the Midwest for recycling glass products such as bottles and jars.
