Colombiatex of the Americas 2013, the three day textile trade show held last month, attracted several foreign investors and generated business opportunities worth US$ 152.5 million from other countries including the US, the UAE, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Puerto Rico etc.
The president of the Institute for Export and Fashion (Inexmoda) of Columbia, Mr. Carlos Eduardo Botera said Colombotex 2013 generated business opportunities worth US$ 152.5 million and it was estimated US$ 120 million.
The textile trade show created new business opportunities for entrepreneurs from Colombia and the EU, he added.
He informed that 1,699 buyers from 27 countries including Germany, Saudi Arabia, Austria Belgium, Spain, Japan, India and the US among participated in Colombiatex 2013.
According to the report released by Proexport, a agency of Colombian Government, the top five buyers were the US, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador and Puerto Rico.
Mr. Ricardo Vallenjo, vice-president of Proexport said the enterprises from the EU were attracted by the fabrics, finished products of Colombia. Porexport aims at promoting Colombian non-traditional exports, international tourism and foreign investment by providing integral advisory services to domestic companies.
