According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in December 2012 Turkey's longitudinally welded tube and profile exports totaled 62,118 mt, hitting the highest monthly level recorded since December 2006. In December last year, longitudinally welded tube and profile exports from Turkey rose by 47 percent compared to the previous month and were up 58.5 percent compared to December 2011. Last year, Turkish total longitudindally welded tube and profile exports amounted to 511,040 mt, increasing by 23.3 percent compared to 2011.
In 2012, Turkey's largest export destination for the product in question was the US with 125,289 mt, more than double compared to 61,752 mt recorded in 2011, Meanwhile, the UK which was Turkey's largest destination for longitudinally welded tube and profile exports in 2011 increased its imports from Turkey to 77,099 mt in 2012, up 19.2 percent year on year.
In December 2012, Turkey's longitudinally welded tube and profile exports to the EU declined to the lowest monthly level recorded for the year with 12,433 mt. However, in the whole year, the country's exports to the region saw a 2.2 percent increase compared to 2011, rising to 228,758 mt.
In December last year, Turkey's spirally welded pipe exports totaled 31,679 mt, falling 2.2 percent compared to the previous month and up 6.3 percent compared to the same month of 2011. In the fourth quarter of 2012, Turkey's spirally welded pipe exports rose significantly compared to the previous quarter, as can be seen in the chart below. However, in the whole year of 2012 Turkey's total exports of spirally welded pipe declined three percent from the previous year.
Meanwhile, in December last year Turkey's total angle, shape and section exports came to 129,240 mt, falling 7.15 percent compared to the previous month and down 22 percent compared to December 2011. In 2012, the country's total angle, shape and section exports came to 1.66 million mt, falling by 0.7 percent compared to 2011. On quarter-on-quarter basis, Turkey's exports of the products in question moved on a declining trend in the last three quarters of 2012.
