US-based chicken processor Koch Foods plans to expand its poultry processing facility in Harris County, Georgia, US with an investment of $49m, a move which is expected to create 750 jobs.
The expansion is expected to increase the workforce at the West Georgia facility to about 1,400 people.
Georgia governor Nathan Deal said that the government's network of supporting resources and experience makes Georgia state ideal for any existing company to expand its operations and remain competitive.
Harris County Commission chairman Harry Lange said, "Harris County is excited about Koch Foods' acquisition of the former Cagle's plant in Pine Mountain Valley and Koch's plans to bring the facility up to full capacity by offering people in our region the opportunity to work for a first-class company."
Koch Foods had acquired an existing Cagle's facility in 2012, retaining 350 jobs. During a two-phase expansion, the company added 350 jobs last year.
This project will be the second phase, which will incorporate two new processing lines, create an additional 750 new jobs.
The Georgia Department of Economic Development has collaborated with the Valley Partnership, the Harris County Commission and the Harris County Development Authority to assess the expansion project.
