Albis to Exhibit Active Packaging Solutions at Interpack Event

Albis Plastic is set to exhibit its active packaging solutions for flexible film applications at this year’s Interpack event in Germany.

The event will take place from 4 to 10 May in Düsseldorf.

The combination of EVOH and ShelfPlus O2 scavenger will help to replace metallization in packaging, allowing to provide better shelf life for the products.

The addition of ShelfPlus O2 to existing BIB films will enable to delay oxidation of the filled product by up to 50% based on storage and filling conditions.

Albis has worked with the Fraunhofer Institute in Freising to develop a method for customers to measure films’ oxygen absorption themselves.

ShelfPlus O2 can also be used in stand-up pouches to enhance product shelf life, in addition to BIB applications.

The company provides PP and PE based 50my ABA or ABC sample films in roll format with ShelfPlus O2, helping customers to carry out laminating or lining experiments effectively.

In addition, Albis is working with customers to develop other active batches such as CO2 absorbers or detectable masterbatches for foodstuff films used between raw materials producers and food or cosmetics fillers.

Albis Plastic packaging marketing director Roland Schultz said: “Our ShelfPlus O2 oxygen scavenger has made the jump from thermoforming to flexible films.

“The PE-based masterbatch is used in a laminatable PE sealing film and helps improve product quality and shelf life in bag-in-box applications for wine, for example. In many markets it makes it much easier to replace metallized films.”
