Chesapeake Newcastle has created four new sleeve designs using Impressions, a process which is used to convert a moldable cartonboard material FibreForm, for Kitchen Concepts for a Swedish brand of pasta, Paolos.
According to the company, the FibreForm is made by the cartonboard manufacturer, BillerudKorsnäs. The sleeves are printed in eight colors and are deeply embossed.
Chesapeake R&D head Carol Hammond said the company has collaborated with BillerudKorsnäs as well as the design and innovation agency NINE in Sweden in this regard.
"The sleeves were produced in the UK and delivered to the brand owner, Paolos, in Italy for packing," Hammond said.
Impressions can be deeply embossed, textured and formed into a variety of shapes and has provided a 3D effect to the sleeve. It also has the flexibility to be formed into a pod to hold a liquid, granules or paste.
As an alternative solution for products currently packed in some plastic formings, Impressions offers a clear environmental advantage.
