Ferrari is planning to ‘upgrade’ fuel tank in its newly launched LaFerrari, to address the fire risk.
The automaker also highlighted that there are no major risk to owners of the new car with the old fuel tank, but highlighted that the new fuel- tank will be less prone to catching fire, reported Motor Authority.
According to reports, the company is not terming the service as a recall, instead it is using the term upgrade, which will be done for free.
Car and Driver cited Ferrari North America spokesperson as saying: "With reference to erroneous information published by some web sites, Ferrari states that no recall has been issued regarding the LaFerrari.
"Due to a possible incorrect adhesion of a layer of paint on the fuel tank, some clients have been invited to take their cars to an authorized service center to substitute the fuel tank with a new one with new paint.
"The time to change the fuel tank is relatively short and the intervention concerns only a limited number of LaFerraris."
