Ukrainian Ferroalloy Production Down 20.6% in The First Quarter

In the January-March period of this year, Ukraine's ferroalloy production decreased by 20.6 percent compared to the same period last year to 183,000 mt, according to the Association of Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers (UkrFA).
 
Accordingly, in the given quarter Ukraine's silicomanganese output decreased by 8.8 percent to 145,000 mt, its ferromanganese production went down by 31.9 percent to 20,900 mt, its ferrosilicon output decreased by 55.7 percent to 16,200 mt, while its metal manganese production moved down by 78.6 percent to 900 mt,all compared to January-March 2012.
 
Specifically, in the first three months of this year, the largest Ukrainian ferroalloy producer Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant’s ferroalloy output increased by 8.9 percent year on year to 143,000 mt, including 126,100 mt of silicomanganese and 16,900 mt of ferromanganese.
 
Meanwhile, in January-March Ukrainian ferroalloy producer Zaporozhye Ferro Alloys Plant’s ferroalloy output declined by 57.3 percent year on year to 21,300 mt, including 16,400 mt of silicomanganese, 4,000 mt of ferromanganese, and 900 mt of metallic manganese, while its output of ferrosilicon in the period was zero.
 
In addition, another major Ukrainian ferroalloy producer Stakhanov Ferroalloy Plant saw its ferroalloy output fall in January-March 2013 by 64.6 percent year on year to 17,500 mt, including 16,200 mt of ferrosilicon and 1,300 mt of silicomanganese
