Paperboard packaging solutions manufacturer Keystone Folding Box has joined forces with sensor and printed electronics provider Information Mediary to develop a ‘smart’ blister package with the sustainability benefits of Ecoslide-RX.
The child-resistant Ecoslide-RX package with integrated Med-ic technology was introduced at the 2013 Global Clinical Supplies Conference in New Mexico on 21 April.
Ecoslide-RX with Med-ic is suitable for clinical trials and incorporates an electronic module and printed sensor grid inside the package, both of which are invisible to the patient.
When a dose is removed from the blister package, the hidden technology records the time, date and location. The data can be retrieved from the pack wirelessly, upon completion of use.
Med-ic smart blisters can be found in a range of pharmaceutical blister cards.
Made from 100% recyclable material, Ecoslide-RX contains no plastic in its secondary packaging and requires minimal film and foil.
