Massachusetts-based Baycare Health Partners and Baystate Health have chosen InterSystems HealthShare as their strategic informatics platform for new regional health information exchange (HIE).
Baycare Health Partners and Baystate Health have formed Pioneer Valley Health Information Exchange (PVIX), which will rely on HealthShare to provide a "one patient, one record" view across hospitals, medical practices, health insurance payers, laboratories, and other healthcare institutions participating in Baycare's Pioneer Valley Accountable Care organization (PVAC) and across the western Massachusetts region.
PVIX will also serve as an on ramp for the region to the Massachusetts state wide health information exchange.
Baystate Health, in addition to using HealthShare as its strategic interoperability foundation for PVIX, will also work with InterSystems to provide applications for population management and community engagement.
Baystate Health vice president and CIO Joel Vengco said the firm's partnership with InterSystems will improve the collaboration for Baystate Health, local and regional physician organizations, and hospital systems, and improve the quality of patient care and the overall experience for patients and caregivers.
"Community engagement is at the heart of our vision and the driving force behind many of our investments in healthcare technology," Vengco added.
