Sun Chemical to Buy Flint Group’S European Publication Gravure Ink Business

Sun Chemical has agreed to acquire Flint Group’s European publication gravure ink business.

Flint Group has decided to divest its European publication gravure business, as part of the long-term strategy to increase focus on its core web offset markets.

Under the deal, Sun Chemical will acquire all product portfolios related to Flint Group’s European publication gravure product range.

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions, including approval by the competition authorities.

Both firms will continue to manage their European publication gravure businesses independently, until the deal is completed.

Flint said that its publication gravure customers outside of Europe will remain unaffected by these changes with business continuing as usual.

Flint Group Europe print media general manager Tony Lord said: “We are pleased to have reached this agreement with Sun Chemical - securing the long term supply for our publication gravure customers in Europe.

“After completion Flint Group will work closely with Sun Chemical to ensure that the transition is completed with minimal disruption for our customers.”

Flint recently purchased Siegwerk’s global web offset business, enabling to expand its global print media business.

In May, Flint Group acquired Arkansas based American Inks and Coatings (AIC), which is engaged in providing inks and related products for the rotogravure, flexographic packaging, and specialty printing industries.

Flint Group provides products including inks, blankets, pressroom chemistry, flexographic plates and sleeves, consumables and colourants.
