The Right Place, an economic development organization, has announced the relocation and expansion of two companies in the Grand Rapids of Michigan by collaborating with its state, regional, and local partners.
The proposed projects are expected to create around 110 new jobs and $3.78m in new capital investment in the area.
Custom Profile, which recently acquired a plastic extrusion and finishing company in Wisconsin, will be moving its operations in this region.
With support from The Right Place, the company is expected to create 54 new jobs and invest $2.28m for relocation and expansion over the next three years.
This project has received $216,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The Right Place business development manager Jen Wangler said: “After the acquisition of the company, Custom Profile had several options on the future location of the business.
“Custom Profile could have kept the operations in Wisconsin or moved them elsewhere. Instead, working together, we were able to bring the operations here to West Michigan.”
With more than 180 employees, Custom Profile focuses in extruded plastic projects for the appliance, office furniture, automotive, energy, point-of-purchase and marine industries.
The other company, Denmark-based Gabriel will also open its first North American sales and manufacturing operation in Great Rapids. The Right Place is assisting this company since the last one year for this relocation.
Gabriel intends to open a 30,000ft2. facility on the city’s west side that would create 56 new jobs with a capital investment of $1.5m.
Gabriel director of business development Lars Malte Hansen said: “Over the past year, The Right Place has been a valuable resource in establishing our first location in North America.
“The organization was able to directly assist us with a variety of business needs, as well as connect us with several additional services in the area.
The Right Place offers a variety of business services that includes connecting the company to partners that they require. This company has generated $247m in capital investment and assisted in the creation of 782 jobs in West Michigan this year.
