IGMA Has Announced The Speakers for Its Upcoming 2014 Winter Conference

The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) has announced the speakers for its upcoming 2014 Winter Conference, scheduled for March 3-7 in San Francisco, along with additional details on the event schedule. 

The first full day of the event will feature a meeting of the Emerging Technology and Innovation Committee at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). In addition to a tour of the Flex-Lab facilities at LBNL, the LBNL Research team will give a presentation during lunch on several projects.

On Wednesday, March 5, the Technical Services Committee will meet, and Julia Schimmelpenningh of Eastman Chemical Co. will present "Safety Glazing: Does It Make the Cut?" during a lunch presentation. Wednesday night also will feature the annual themed networking session from IGMA with a special "60s Magical Bus Tour" reception and dinner.

On Thursday, March 6, the Glass Safety Awareness Council and the Certification and Education Committee will meet and a lunch presentation titled "Study: How to Measure Volatile Fog Objectively" will be presented by Dave Cooper and Jonathan Herndon of Guardian Industries Corp.

The rest of Thursday and all of Friday, March 7, will feature education sessions for fabricators and installers including a presentation about gas-filling by Randi Ernst of FDR Design Inc.  A panel presentation titled "Glass Performance for Energy-Efficient Fenestration" designed provide specific details about how to select the best glass for a specific application also will be held Thursday afternoon.

"We're combining our committee week and education seminar to provide attendees with a total value-added program," says Margaret Webb, executive director of IGMA.

IGMA president Frank Caporiccio of PPG Industries adds, "The IGMA meetings are a must-attend for everyone involved in the fenestration industry. Our standard development activities are recognized by the industry as addressing best practices for insulating glass production as well as supporting the long-term performance, quality and efficiency of these units."

The conference will be held at the JW Marriott Union Square in San Francisco.
