Thermo Scientific, a US-based healthcare equipment provider, has announced that its SureTect Listeria species Assay has received Performance Tested Methods status from the AOAC Research Institute.
Listeria species can be commonly found in soils and untreated water resulting in a risk for animals and plants destined for human consumption.
According to the company, the SureTect Listeria species PCR Assay has proven to be comparable to the ISO 11290-1 reference method.
Thermo Fisher Scientific microbiology global marketing vice president Sumi Thaker said, "The SureTect Real-Time PCR System has been designed to streamline test workflow and reduce time to result, which are primary considerations in today's pathogen test selection, and all of our current assays are now validated according to the AOAC-RI Performance Tested MethodsSM program."
The SureTect System is designed to detect microorganisms quickly and accurately in a broad range of foods and associated samples. The system combines ease of use, speed, convenience, and features PCR Technology.
Thermo Scientific is set to showcase its entire suite of SureTect products at the AOAC Annual Meeting and Exposition to be held at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago from 25 - 28 August.
