British glass packaging manufacturer Beatson Clark has developed a new lightweighted bottle for the packaging of Robinsons Brewery's Old Tom ale, under a partnership with glass packaging specialist Rawlings.

Manufactured at Rotherham facility, the new 250g amber bottle features improved embossing of the Robinsons name and Old Tom brand on the glass.

The new development enables the brewery to reduce raw materials and transportation costs, the company claims.

Beatson Clark sales & marketing director Lynn Sidebottom said that the consumers will continue to recognize the distinctive Old Tom bottle, as the bottle shape and embossing design did not change.

"However, we have used our new design software to sculpt the embossing, making it more defined as well as easier to manufacture," added Sidebottom.

Old Tom ale is currently available in selective Morrisons, Booths, Waitrose, Bookers and Parfetts across the north-west, as well as Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Nisa across the UK.
