BMW 4 Series Convertible with New Styling and Specifications Has Been Spied

The BMW 4 Series Convertible has been spied almost completely undisguised ahead of its 2014 launch.

CarAdvice’s spy photographers captured the seemingly production-ready test car with its roof down, giving us a clear impression of what to expect from the all-new BMW 4 Series Convertible when it debuts internationally early next year and arrives in Australian showrooms by mid 2014.

The car in these images is the same as the one our spies captured in June outside BMW’s workshop at the Nurburgring in Germany.

It is finished in Melbourne Red paint and wears the aggressive M Sport package, which features a unique front bumper with black details, twin-arm five-spoke alloy wheels, a large rear diffuser, and racy red leather upholstery.

Like the outgoing 3 Series Convertible, the new 4 Series Convertible will closely mirror the styling and specifications of its 4 Series Coupe counterpart, which is available locally from October.

Based on current pricing, expect 4 Series Convertible variants to cost roughly $10,000 more than their equivalent coupes, which are priced at $73,200 for the 420d, $86,500 for the 428i and $108,500 for the 435i.

While some engines will carry over to the new line-up, each variant will be faster and significantly more fuel efficient than the model it replaces, with the frugal 420d consuming approximately 4.6 litres per 100km on the combined cycle and the high-performance sprinting from 0-100km/h in roughly 5.1 seconds.
