US Raw Steel Production Rose Another 2.1 Percent in The Week Ending April 6

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose another 2.1 percent in the week ending April 6, following a 0.6 percent increase the previous week and a 1.3 percent jump the week prior.

Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,858,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 2.1 percent increase from the 1,819,000 nt produced in the previous week but 7.7 percent less than the 2,014,000 nt produced during the same week a year ago.

The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 77.6 percent in the week ending April 6, compared to 75.9 percent in the previous week and 80.9 percent in the same week last year.
