Websense Launches Cyber Security Intelligence Services to Tap Into The Resources

Security firm Websense is to launch cyber security intelligence services to enable businesses to tap into the resources of its research teams.

The official launch is scheduled for later this month, but Websense revealed some details of the planned services at the launch of the latest version of its Triton security platform in London.

Websense Launches Cyber Security Intelligence Services

The new services will make the intelligence gained from millions of detection points directly available to businesses, said Carl Leonard, senior security research manager for Europe at Websense.

Today's threats take advantage of zero-day vulnerabilities, are undetected by signature-based controls, evade behavioural defences and are increasingly adaptive, Leonard said.

Consequently, blocking is no longer enough. Businesses require IT resources to become proactive to improve their security posture and enhance incident response capabilities.

The new Websense cyber security services will be branded as CSI On-Demand and CSI Live.

The On-Demand service offers core security intelligence training, research results and access to deep analysis tools such as ThreatScope, an online malware sandbox service.

"ThreatScope provides information about the who, what, when, where and how of malware," said Leonard. This includes tracking all post-infection activities.

In addition, the CSI Live package features direct contact with Websense security  researchers to help with proactive defence planning, forensic training and hands-on training twice a year.

The premium proactive defence consultation service includes reviews of  security policy and configurations and of custom whitelists and blacklists to ensure they remain current.

"In the event of a security incident, researchers will help CSI Live customers with the investigation, including dissecting malware samples, " said Leonard.
