The simple connect, twist and firm lock functionality of the new fitment offers ease of use and makes connecting bag-in-box bags to dispensing equipment simple, efficient and leak free, the company said.

This easy to clean and sanitize one piece construction is suitable for higher viscosity liquids such as smoothie bases, fruit purees and other similar food products under FDA and EU regulations.

Rapak's Strivo is available  in and in sizes for aseptic and extended shelf life (ESL) applications. It can also be customized to fit any size tube of the dispensing machinery.

The connecting system is also said to address the complexity and cost concerns associated with competitive connectors.

Rapak will showcase Strivo at PackExpo this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Besides Strivo, Rapak's portfolio also includes a bag for oxygen sensitive products including fruit puree and smoothies. The bag that is made of a clear high barrier film can be used as an alternative to existing metalized film bags for food packaging.

Rapak, a business unit of DS Smith plastics division, provides bag-in-box packaging and filling systems.

The company offers liquid packaging products, including bags, boxes, filling machines, and dispensing systems; and dispensers, such as caps and taps, tube dispensers, tamper evident closures, connectors, and valve systems.

DS Smith plastics division operates from 28 sitesin1/2 and in 1/4 in countries. The plastics division businesses are focused on three main areas: flexible packaging and dispensing solutions, rigid packaging and foam products.
