Melville, N.Y. – Canon unveiled Thursday six PowerShot point-and-shoot cameras and the Rebel T5 DSLR.
The highlight of the new PowerShot offerings is the PowerShot G1 X Mark II ($799 suggested retail) advanced compact camera featuring a 5x zoom lens with a f/2-3.9 variable aperture and a 24-120mm equivalent zoom range, a 13.1-megapixel resolution in 4:3 format and 12.8-megapixel in 2:3 format 1.5-inch format sensor.
Other features include a DIGIC 6 processor, 3 fps continuous capture with AF and 5 fps capture with AF locked, built-in Wi-Fi/NFC, a tilting 3-inch LCD monitor and optional hot-shoe-mounted electronic viewfinder.
The Canon PowerShot SX700HS (shipping in March at a $349) features a 16.1MP sensor with a 30x optical zoom lens, built-in Wi-Fi/NFC and 1080/60p video capture.
The Canon PowerShot D30 (shipping in April at $329) is a 12.1-megapixel all-weather camera with an 82-foot depth rating, shock resistance 6.5-feet and temperature resistance to between 14-104 degrees F. It will capture FullHD 1080p video and includes a 5x zoom lens.
The new Canon PowerShot Elph 150 IS (shipping this month at $149) features a 20-megapixel sensor, 10x optical zoom and 720p video capture.
The PowerShot Elph 140 IS (shipping this month at $129) features a 16-megapixel sensor, 8x optical zoom and 720p video recording.
The stripped-down Canon PowerShot Elph 135 (shipping in February at $119) features a 16-megapixel sensor, 8x zoom and 720p video.
Canon latest DSLR installment, the Rebel T5 (shipping in March at $549 with an 18-55mm IS II kit lens), features an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor, 1080p video, 3-inch LCD and nine-point AF system.
