The Upward Trend in Roundwood Prices Which Has Now Been Evident in Finland

The upward trend in industrial-timber and roundwood prices which has now been evident in Finland since the beginning of the year continued until the end of May. Current analyses conducted by the Finnish Forest Industries Federation show an average price for standing timber at the end of May (four-week sliding average) for pine roundwood of roughly €55/m³, for spruce roundwood of €56/m³, and for birch roundwood unchanged at €43/m³. Although softwood-roundwood prices on the Finnish roundwood market have therefore risen on average by 10-12% since the beginning of the year, current values are comparable to or slightly lower than they were a year ago. In comparison to the price level in March, some industrial-timber prices have increased again marginally. Source: euwid-wood-products
