US-based producer of innovative custom-engineered components, products, and specialty packaging UFP Technologies has opened a new facility at El Paso, Texas.
With this facility, the company has expanded its North American operations for molded fiber packaging.
While the company was founded in 1963, its molded fiber group started operations in 1991 and manufactures innovative, environmentally-friendly, sustainable, protective packaging solutions for consumer goods, electronics, and industrial products and delivers them across North America.
The El Paso facility will help the company meet the growing demand for 100% recyclable molded fiber packaging in Mexico, the Southwest, and the Western United States.
UFP Technologies uses foams, plastics, composites, and natural fiber materials to design and produce an array of solutions for the medical, automotive, aerospace and defense and packaging markets.
The company claims that in the 1990's, it was the first molded pulp manufacturing organization to commercially develop 'egg carton process' into custom industrial molded pulp packaging in North America.
The company says that as a material and a process, molded fiber packaging forms an efficient medium.
UFP Technologies chairman and CEO R Jeffrey Bailly said: "Environmentally-responsible molded fiber packaging is a rapidly growing business for UFP Technologies and an important part of our growth strategy.
"Our decision to locate in Texas was designed to both increase our capacity and better serve our current and prospective customers in that region."
The company's molded fiber packaging segment produces molded pulp packaging solutions for personal computers, health and beauty products, wine bottles, candles and cell phones.
