Coca-Cola is using Crown’s thermochromic Reveal ink technology for its Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta and Sprite beverages in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Crown Bevcan Europe & Middle East and Chromatic Technologies (CTI) have developed Reveal inks, which enable graphics to change to reveal specific imagery and messaging during consumption.
Two thermochromic inks can be viewed when the can is cold, while one ink will disappear after the consumption of cold product.
The technology is said to provide one ambient original image, one cold image and third image after consuming the contents of the can.
Coca-Cola has included four specific messages with one per brand, helping to engage with its customers in a unique manner.
Cans feature either a person or cartoon-style animal from which a speech bubble exhales to hold the thermochromic messaging and appears when the can is chilled.
An interactive quick response (QR) code below the image connects to exclusive video content, helping to increase traffic to the brand’s website

In December 2017, Crown agreed to acquire Signode Industrial Group Holdings (Bermuda) from Carlyle Group for $3.91bn.
Signode provides transit packaging systems and solutions, including strap, stretch and protective packaging consumable products.
The company produces its products through various brands, including Acme Packaging, Angleboard, Burseryds Bruk, Caretex, Dacro, Down River, Fleetwood, GaleWrap, Haloila, H.Bohl, Josef Kihlberg, Kiwiplan and Lachenmeier.
