Sunovia Energy Technologies Was Issued U.S. Patent No. 8,018,161 B2

Sunovia Energy Technologies, a global leader in the development and commercialization of high performance LED lighting systems, has been issued U.S. Patent No. 8,018,161 B2 relating to the wireless control and battery backed operation of LED lighting systems. Sunovia has been issued nine patents to date, and has more than twenty patents pending that are related to LEDs, LED lighting systems and LED internal controls. The issuance of patent no. 8,018,161 B2 provides additional protections for Sunovia's proprietary brand of EvoLucia Aimed Optics(TM) products, and fortifies the company's strategic initiatives to further advance the controls and monitoring side of Sunovia's LED lighting business. Sunovia's "Smart Light" features include wireless, power-line and power-over-ethernet communications with internally automated sensing and battery back-up switching in the event of power failure. These unique features are embedded directly into the luminaire and facilitate remotely controlled switching that assists utilities in providing uninterrupted service while saving additional energy during peak demand cycles. Sunovia intends to license this technology as well as integrate the proprietary controls into its utility and commercial product lines. Sunovia CEO, Mel Interiano, stated, "The '161 B2 patent further strengthens the foundation and propriety of our brand, and is an important building block in the electronics controls division of the company. The growth and protection of our intellectual property portfolio will remain a priority as we design and integrate new features and controls into our product lines." Source: marketwatch.com
