A group of delegates from the China Chamber of Commerce for Export and Import of Textiles (CCCT) visited Bangladesh seeking opportunities for textile ties with Silk Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (SMEAB).
Speaking to fibre2fashion, Mr. Alauddin Ahmed, President of SMEAB, said, “A team of delegates from the CCCT visited Bangladesh in the recent past to explore the potential of the country’s silk sector and to acquire information on various government policies for foreign investment.”
“The Chinese delegation expressed a desire to strengthen trade relation with Bangladesh silk producers,” he informs.
“The visiting team was interested in knowing our capacities in production, such as the infrastructural facilities and the technical know-how,” he reveals.
According to Mr. Ahmed, there is a good scope of cooperation between the Chinese and Bangladesh silk producers. “We have skilled labor and the Government policies are very liberal for foreign investments,” he quips.
“The eight- member team is happy with the visit and we hope to build a long-lasting trade relation with the Chinese silk producers,” he opines.
“However, we are still in the initial stages of discussion,” he concludes.
