Japanese based Mitsui Chemicals has scheduled a maintenance turnaround at its Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) plant in the third quarter of 2013.
A Mitsui official told fibre2fashion, "The company has scheduled a maintenance turnaround in mid-July 2013 and the plant is likely to remain shut for a period of around two weeks."
When asked for a specific reason for the turnaround, he said, “Government regulations demand that we so a maintenance turnaround once every year”.
He however declined to comment on the current operating rates at the MEG plant.
The MEG plant located in Osaka has a production capacity of 50,000 mt/year.
