San Diego Gas&Electric(SDG&E)trialled an energy efficiency programme using smart meters,from September 1st to November 30th,2011.The results of their trial resulted in savings of more than double amongst the participants.
Participants were entered into a competition,at the end of which winners were randomly drawn to win tablet computers and restaurant gift cards.
One participant said:"We didn't win any of the three drawings for an iPad,but now that I think about it,we saved more than enough money to buy a brand new iPad!"
